Important facts: Elrond, his brother Elros, his mother Elwing and his father Earendil were all given the choice of being of the Elven Kindred or of the Human race, because Earendil was only half elf. Elrond and his parents choose to dwell among the Elves, while Elros "chose a mortal life".
Elrond later married Celebrian, the only daughter of Galadriel and Celeborn, who was captured by Orcs for a very long time, and when she was finally rescued, she no longer wished to stay in Middle Earth, and left over the Sundering Seas , leaving Elrond heartbroken with three children to raise.
